The Pre-School staff act to promote a very sociable, relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. The children have access to a variety of "dressing up" resources which enables them to role play. This has many learning qualities. Role play is encouraged within the Pre-School. We use many play scenarios, such as: Cafe, Hospital, Office, Shop and Vets. This helps to promote sharing, communication, imagination and, of course, fun.

We have different topics set out each week: Our Family and Friends, The Beach, Transport, Under the Sea, Nature. This gives the children a chance to bring in an item or toy from home for "show-and-tell".

There are other activities available for them to take part in, such as: painting, play dough, puzzles, messy play (the children's favourite!) and much, much more.

Pre-School have their own computer. This enables the children to expand their IT skills. They can enjoy a selection of games, which helps them with numeracy and letters. They are encouraged to develop an understanding of the concept of sharing and waiting their turn by having their name on the waiting list.

To promote healthy eating, we have a mid-morning snack. After washing hands, the children enjoy a healthy snack which they help to prepare themselves. They are offered either milk or water to drink and are encouraged to pour it themselves.

The Pre- School has lunch in the School hall. Children may bring their own packed lunch or can have a school dinner, which is freshly cooked on the premises by the Primary School Cook, for a small fee. This is very good for the children, especially for the children who will be going through the transition from Pre-School to Primary School.

Lunch time is between 12pm and 12.40pm

The children really enjoy this time. It helps them to learn table manners, communication skills and allows them time to talk to the Pre-School Leader.

Weather permitting, the children have periods of outdoor activities. We have use of the school field, a large playground and a nature area.
